Morgan Courtois

Autres habitants

On the occasion of the Cities theme week of the Dubai World Expo, Art Explora is exhibiting the works of eight internationally renowned French artists. Questioning the place of ecosystems in the urban environment, these works are presented simultaneously in several urban spaces, in Dubai as well as in Paris, in order to share the artistic program of the World Expo with as many people as possible.

Morgan Courtois

Hybris, 2021

Artwork presented on Jumeirah Road in Dubai.

Hybris is a flash of iridescence lighting up a hydrocarbon night. An electrifying aldehyde overload in the lead. The appearance of a mutant rose in the humidity of an asphalt slick.

For the World Expo of Dubaï 2020, Art Explora Foundation and IFF present an olfactory artwork by the artist Morgan Courtois, created in collaboration with the perfumer Céline Barel. This work will be distributed in the French Pavilion of the Dubai World Expo as well as in the Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre metro station on the occasion of the Autres habitants exhibition.

Biography of the artist

Morgan Courtois was born in Abbeville (France) in 1988, he lives and works in Paris. Morgan Courtois falls within the tradition of those who, since the advent of art nouveau, became fascinated by botany. An avid reader, he is passionate about the living world. Although he searches in the pages of scientific books for what gives nature its reasons for being, his artworks express a poetic world with a sensitive aesthetic. He received the Meurice Prize in 2017. His work has been presented in numerous solo and collective exhibitions, notably at the Musée d’art Moderne de la ville de Paris (2017), Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris (2017), the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam (2019), and the Biennale de Lyon (2019). He is represented by the Galerie Balice Hertling (Paris).
