Morgan Courtois

‍Otherinhabitants

To coincide with the Cities theme week of the Dubai World Expo, Art Explora is exhibiting works by eight internationally renowned French artists. Questioning the place of ecosystems in the urban environment, these works are presented simultaneously in several urban spaces, in Dubai as well as in Paris, in order to share the World Expo's artistic program with as many people as possible.

Morgan Courtois

Hybris, 2021

Work presented on Jumeirah Road, Dubai.

Hybris is a flash of iridescence illuminating a hydrocarbon night. An electrifying aldehyde overload in the head. The appearance of a mutant rose in the humidity of a bitumen slick.

As part of the Dubai 2020 World Expo, Art Explora Foundation and IFF are presenting an olfactory work by artist Morgan Courtois, created in collaboration with perfumer Céline Barel. This work will be distributed in the France Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo, as well as in the Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre metro station on the occasion of the Autres habitants exhibition.

The artist's biography

Morgan Courtois was born in Abbeville (France) in 1988, and lives and works in Paris. Morgan Courtois follows in the footsteps of those who, at the emergence of Art Nouveau, were fascinated by botany. An avid reader, he is passionate about the living world and botany. While he searches the pages of scientific works for the reasons for nature's existence, it is a poetic world of sensitive aesthetics that his works express. He was awarded the Prix Meurice in 2017. His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Musée d'art Moderne de la ville de Paris (2017), Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris (2017), the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam (2019) and the Biennale de Lyon (2019). He is represented by Galerie Balice Hertling (Paris).
