The International Day of Art in Care Homes

A chance to celebrate the Allô Miro programme in France and the Arts at Home programme in the UK

On the occasion of the UK National Day of Arts in Care Homes on 24 September 2022,French and English care homes benefitted from a unique twinning initiative! Art Explora joined forces with the UK agencyArts in Care Homes to deliver a range of arts and cultural activities in both UK and French care homes.  

The weekly sessions of Allô Miro and Arts at Home had an added twist by celebrating the culture of another country.

In France, the residents in a care home near Bordeaux looked at British artist Joseph Mallord William Turner, and enjoyed a tea of scones and jam, while in the UK, care home residents in London explored the work of French artist Claude Monet and enjoyed a breakfast of croissants!

The event was an opportunity to exchange and share elements of language and culture of each country, and for the residents to discover the particularities of their two neighbouring countries

After a successful first session, we hope to expand this international twinning initiative between care homes in the future.
