The Pleyel en mouvement project by Art Explora Foundation and the ESSOR group will take over the Gare Saint-Denis - Pleyel in 2026.

This new cultural destination on the scale of Greater Paris will occupy the 4 floors (5,000 m2) of a building designed by international architect Kengo Kuma and positioned above the future Saint-Denis - Pleyel station, which will be the busiest of the Grand Paris Express, with 250,000 passengers expected every day at the crossroads of 4 metro lines and 1 RER line.

A new center for culture and exchange as part of a long-term commitment to the renewal of the Seine-Saint-Denis region and the development of Greater Paris, Pleyel en Mouvement aims to make culture accessible to as many people as possible, to promote youth and cultures, with a lasting impact for and on the region.

Pleyel en Mouvement, scheduled to open in 2026, relies on two committed players, experts in their respective fields, whose objectives are:

  • to share the arts with as many people as possible with Art Explora, an international foundation that promotes access to culture for all and renews the dialogue between the arts and audiences on a local, national and international scale.
  • to imagine, build and bring to life the places of tomorrow with the ESSOR group. Places take on their full meaning through the life they host; they must contribute to an inclusive living together and to the balance of the territories within which we can meet, work, live, shop and play.

The Pleyel en Mouvement project has been developed around 3 main axes:

  • 1- Create a major cultural venue for Greater Paris: 70% of the available surface area will be dedicated to a rich and diversified artistic and cultural offering, welcoming established and emerging figures from the world of culture, and encouraging vocations and free practices for all.

o Art Explora will lead a network of local and international partners united around the same ambition: to make Pleyel en Mouvement the place for contemporary cultures, in order to share new imaginations, through a diverse programming: visual arts, digital creations, artistic performances, cinema, immersive experiences, festivals, exhibitions, free practices, artist residencies and a cultural incubator.
o Pleyel en Mouvement will also host retail and lifestyle outlets, in a spirit of synergy to create a virtuous dynamic with the local area.

  • 2- Strengthen the region's international appeal and the development of its many local players, by offering high-quality cultural experiences and involving local partners in each space, in an iconic architectural venue destined to become one of the flagship achievements for the Greater Paris heritage, recognizable the world over.
  • 3- Open access to guarantee accessibility for as many people as possible, creating an open, lively, dynamic space connected to the region and its inhabitants.
