From September 18, 2023 to January 13, 2024, the MuMo x Centre Pompidou will be touring the Ardennes, Aube, Haute-Marne, Meuse and Vosges with the exhibition La Caravane du bizarre . Some 8,500 visitors are expected.

"Beauty is always bizarre [...] It always contains a little weirdness, a naive, unwanted, unconscious weirdness, and it is this weirdness that makes it particularly Beautiful" - Charles Baudelaire, Curiosités esthétiques, L'exposition universelle de 1855, 1868

Featuring some fifteen works from the collection of the Centre Pompidou - Musée national d'art moderne, Europe's largest collection of modern and contemporary art, the exhibition plunges visitors into disturbing, frightening and fascinating worlds.

Between shock, wonder and fear, the exhibition promises an emotionally-charged journey into the heart of weirdness.

Visitors will encounter curious characters andfantastic animals drawn from myths and legends, and discover strange landscapes straight from the artists' imaginations.

These distortions of the real world call into question our representations of the world and invite us to question our place in it.

Along the way, young and old alike can take advantage of the tours and creative workshops on offer to explore the artists' astonishing and bewildering worlds.
