Residences Art Explora x Artagon

To coincide with the transformation of Hangar Y into a cultural and events venue, 10 young, recently graduated artists have been invited by Art Explora and Artagon to reuse materials from the hangar's construction site to create works of art, during a residency in September 2022.

Description of the work

Armelle Tulunda explores the physical and technical capabilities of mirrors in her work Explorer. Covered with a film that alters its reflective capacities and gives it new optical properties, her mirror - which echoes the one used in telescopes - reacts to the slightest variation in light, offering us the chance to contemplate a simulated nebula on our own scale.

The artist refers to the imagery created by the observation of space, and questions the influence of scientific methods and representations on the collective view of the cosmos. The artisanal nature of the work she presents in the exhibition is set against the raw, technical images reflected by the telescopic tool.

Inspired by astronomy and scientific research, his installation is both an introspective exploration and an invitation to reconsider our planet, reflecting on new ways of observing and exploring the space in which it evolves.

‍Biographyof the artist

Armelle Tulunda is a French artist who lives and works near Paris. She graduated from the École nationale supérieure d'art et de design de Nancy in 2020.
