Macarena Gómez-Barris embarks on a fascinating exploration of coastal landscapes as sites of resistance, survival and ecological interconnectedness. Blending postcolonial and ecological perspectives, Gómez-Barris investigates how coastal regions, often ignored in global narratives, serve as vital frontiers where indigenous communities, marine life and local cultures resist and adapt to the encroachments of neoliberal exploitation and climate change.

Macarena Gómez-Barris
Macarena Gómez-Barris is a writer and researcher specializing in decolonial environmental humanities and racial ecologies. She is the author of four books, including The Extractive Zone and Beyond the Pink Tide, which explore extractive capitalism and political art in Latin America. He has also published on memory and state violence in Chile and is currently co-editing the Dissident Acts series with Duke University Press, where he advances decolonial and critical perspectives on art and ecology.
