Caravanserá Workshop
Before the performance (on June 27th), audiences are invited to take part in a participatory workshop where movement, sound, and collective actions gradually shape the world of Caravanserá. Inspired by historical “caravanserais” – places of encounter and exchange –, the workshop creates an informal space where participants of different ages contribute to the atmosphere of the performance, blurring the boundaries between audience and performers.

Caravanserá
A participatory performance combining dance, music and procession. Inspired by the work of Maria José Ciríaco, Caravanserá invites audiences to join a collective and festive experience where everyone becomes part of the performance.
Before the performance (on June 27th), the audience is invited to enter Caravanserá through a workshop of collective preparation and experimentation. Inspired by the idea of “caravanserais” – historical places of passage, encounter, and exchange –, the workshop creates an informal space of conviviality where movement, sound, and elements of the performance begin to take shape with the participants themselves.
Throughout the session, participants will explore simple actions, games, and movement-based dynamics accessible to different ages and levels of experience, allowing each person to contribute to the creation of the performance environment. More than a technical preparation, the workshop becomes a moment of connection between audience, artists, and participants, dissolving the boundaries between those who observe and those who perform.
Within the context of the Art Explora Festival, the workshop extends the participatory spirit of Caravanserá, transforming the creative process into an open space for encounter, listening, and collective expression.
Workshop facilitated by: Lugar Específico.

Gustavo Ciríaco is a choreographer and visual artist whose work explores the relationship between body, space and participation. His practice often involves collaborative and site-specific projects, engaging diverse communities and combining performance, visual arts and social interaction.
