'Des Gens Qui Dansent, Plastic Affair' Workshop by Charlène Le Prêtre
A dance workshop exploring plastic and its impact on living beings, for all publics Inspired by images of marine animals trapped in plastic waste, this workshop was born from underwater observations in the Mediterranean and Red Sea, where plastic proliferates even in protected areas. In duet with a light plastic sheet, participants are invited to reflect on our habits and the way we inhabit our environment.

Workshops will be offered alongside the performance Plastic Affair. We will begin with a short collective warm-up inspired by shoals of fish and the undulating gestures of marine environments: the movement of waves, seaweed, and marine animals (fish, jellyfish, etc.).
In the final part of the workshop, we will explore the relationship between the moving body and the plastic material developed in Plastic Affair.
The workshops unfold through a narrative inspired by marine life and the impact of plastic use on this environment.
Plastic Affair emerged from my experience as a diver in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, where I have witnessed the growing presence of plastic pollution, even in protected waters. Triggered by images of marine life entangled in plastic waste, the performance examines the complex relationship between human activity and the natural world. Through movement, it invites audiences to consider how everyday actions shape the environments we inhabit. It is a solo performance in dialogue with a light plastic tarpaulin, a material that is as hypnotic as it is dangerous.

Charlène Le Prêtre
Choreographer and performer with Des Gens Qui Dansent since 2023, Charlène Le Prêtre has developed a strong an interest in site-specific practices and in the ways bodies interact with space and architecture. Alongside her artistic practice, she collaborates with Le Phare – Centre Chorégraphique National du Havre Normandie as a dance artist working with a wide range of participants.
Since 2023, she has been developing her choreographic work through Dans(e) Ta Ville, a project exploring the relationship between movement and architecture, followed by her first performance work, Plastic Affair.
In September 2025, she initiated Les Gens Qui Dansent, a project that began with its first residency at Le Rebours in Haussez in May 2026. Through this work, she seeks to celebrate the dances that emerge in moments of gathering and festivity as profoundly human acts. The project aims to bring together people from diverse backgrounds through a participatory and sensitive artistic process.
