Atelier - Le corps s'étend - Omar Aljbaai and Dasha Sedova - l'atelier des artistes en exil
For this workshop blending dance and theatre, Dasha Sedova and Omar Aljbaai, in association with the Artists in Exile workshop, invite us to reintroduce the notions of play and joy into our daily movement practices. Over the course of an hour and a half, participants will explore walking, bodily interactions in everyday situations, and ways of occupying space with a fresh perspective.

Our bodies are social entities, and as such are conditioned by movement norms, whether conscious or not. These norms influence the way we inhabit our bodies and spaces. The aim of this workshop is to reintroduce the notion of play and joy into our daily movement practices. During this workshop, we will examine and enhance the most habitual movements of our bodies. Over a period of an hour and a half, we invite participants to explore walking, bodily interactions in everyday situations, and ways of occupying space with an unusual eye. By crossing our respective disciplines, notably dance and theater, we will propose walking exercises that play with speed, directions, attention and imagination, with the aim of developing a new perception of the places of our daily lives.

Dasha Sedova
Born in Moscow in 1987, Dasha Sedova is a dancer and choreographer. She studied at Moscow's Lomonossov University, then at the Sorbonne. Since 2012, she has been involved in contemporary dance, creating site-specific performances and leading laboratories. In 2022, she co-organized the COLLECTIV_A dance and community festival in Georgia. In France since 2023, she has been a member of l'atelier des artistes en exil. Today, she is involved in artistic proposals aimed at minority audiences of gender or sexual orientation.
Omar Aljbaai
Born in Syria in 1982, Omar Aljbaai is a writer, actor and director. A graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art in Damascus, he is a scriptwriter and runs workshops. He writes short stories, articles and literary reviews, which are collected in the book Le Pays des Schtroumpfs. He acts in TV series and plays. He writes plays, including Le Lâche, which will be staged for the first time in Marseille in 2024. He has been a member of l'atelier des artistes en exil since 2023.

l'atelier des artistes en exil (aa-e) aims to identify artists in exile from all backgrounds and disciplines, support them according to their situation and needs, offer them working spaces and put them in touch with professional networks, so as to provide them with the means to test their practice and restructure themselves.
