DJ Set: Blending alternative hip-hop, experimental electronic music, and soulful songwriting, Awir Leon is a musician and composer who made a name for himself in the music world after working as a dancer, notably with Emanuel Gat. This dual background gives his music a unique, physical rhythm. Awir Leon has been composing the music for Amala Dianor’s shows for ten years.

The set will take the form of a sonic journey through contemporary underground cultures: from South African townships with pantsula to the clubs of Kinshasa with ndombolo, via Jamaican dancehall, krump, and voguing—which originated in the streets and ballrooms of the United States—and even the Ivorian coupé-décalé. Awir weaves all these styles together live, crafting a musical narrative where rhythms echo from one continent to another.
Awir Leon
A multidisciplinary artist rooted in electronic soul, best known for his introspective ballads reminiscent of Frank Ocean, Thom Yorke, or James Blake, Awir has also always found inspiration and freedom in club music and culture. As a dancer himself, music and movement are one and the same to him, and he expresses this through a rhythmic exploration that challenges the listener, whether in his productions or his DJ sets. Beyond musical genre distinctions, Awir effortlessly transitions from garage to batida, from grime to amapiano, and from bass to afrotronica, with the sole goal of getting the entire crowd sweating.
