Ball Pagès by Colla Sa Bodega
Traditional Ibizan Dance In every traditional Ibizan dance, in every fabric, textile, and small detail, the heart of our island lives on. With love, respect, and pride, we work to keep our essence alive, so that Ibizan culture and tradition never fade and continue to move future generations.
La Colla de Sa Bodega was founded in 1987 through the initiative of the Parents’ Association (AMIPA) of Sa Bodega Public School in Ibiza Town. Although it now operates independently, it has maintained a close connection with the school, where its social headquarters are still based. Since its beginnings, the group has worked to preserve, promote and honour Ibiza’s popular heritage through traditional dance, music, craftsmanship and clothing.
The group is made up of around thirty members and has its own banner. Throughout the year, it takes part in many popular performances and traditional celebrations, especially during the patron saint festivities of Santa María, the Festes de la Terra and events held in different neighbourhoods of Ibiza Town. From June to September, it performs regularly at es Martell, in the port of Ibiza, and also participates in events linked to the Day of the Balearic Islands, both in Ibiza and Mallorca. It also collaborates in charity showcases, cultural gatherings and activities promoted by institutions such as Ibiza Town Hall and the Consell Insular d’Eivissa.

One of the main pillars of La Colla de Sa Bodega is its educational work. Throughout the year, it offers traditional dance classes for both children and adults, as well as training in traditional Ibizan musical instruments such as castanyoles, the drum and s’espasí, the flaüta and the sea horn. In addition, it organises courses and workshops focused on the making of traditional clothing, typical espadrilles, hats and instruments, helping to pass on artisanal knowledge closely linked to the island’s folklore.
The association also includes a strong group of master craftswomen who regularly take part in national and international tourism promotions and craft fairs, bringing Ibizan craftsmanship to places such as Madrid, Calella, Utrecht, Évora, Paris, Germany, Ibiza, Formentera and Portugal. Since 2001, it has organised the annual Mostra Folklòrica Ciutat d’Eivissa, with the support of Ibiza Town Hall, and also helps promote the Xacota Pagesa, a popular celebration dedicated to the traditional dance, singing and music of Ibiza and Formentera.
