Guided tours

Walking through the port and its surroundings based on a reflection on the sea as a forgotten space and its limits. The breakwater at sea and on land. The itinerary will unfold in dialogue with the notions of the artist and photographer Alan Sekula, maritime ex-votos, and urban transformation.

Ruta de autor is an artistic duo formed by Aymara Arreaza R. and Lorena Bou Linhares. We combine a range of disciplines to approach the city and inhabited natural spaces. Our main lines of interest include contextual research, urban history, literature, decolonial perspectives, visual culture, and street narratives shaped by the perception and experience of space. In short, our practice is transdisciplinary. Trained as philologists, we design our itineraries from a critical perspective and find in dialogue and walking ways to activate new narratives shaped by diverse experiences and sensibilities.

Among our most recent projects, we highlight Barcelona y el infame negocio de la esclavitud en el siglo XIX, an itinerary created exclusively for the public program of the exhibition La infamia at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona (2025–2026); Colgar una hamaca, perpetuar el hogar, a work shown in the group exhibition Reencantamientos at the Ethnological Museum of Barcelona (2024); El camino de la luz, a route created for the program that links artistic intervention and public space as a common good, promoted by Santa Mònica and La Traginera (2023); four itinerant podcasts titled Ressonàncies for BCN Acció Intercultural (2023); La ciudad como exposición, a work that formed part of the group exhibition Apuntes para un incendio de los ojos (MACBA, October 2021 – February 2022); and Bandera verde, an exhibition piece and itinerary in El Prat de Llobregat, resulting from the UNZIP Arts Visuals grant (2019).**

Some of our most notable routes include Palacio de Cristal: márgenes y cimientos, with La Liminal and the Museo Reina Sofía (2022); Todos los calippos del mundo, with Larre (2020); Barcelona y América: una cartografía del relato colonial (1835–1888), with the MACBA (2019); El puerto in Sekula Saeculorum, with the Fundació Tàpies and The Green Parrot (2017); and Barcelona y los indianos: negocios de ultramar y cambio urbano, with the MUHBA (2014–2022).
