C! S – T E M E R R O R is a participatory and immersive performance that takes the form of an embodied archive of displacement, migration, queerness, and survival. Drawing inspiration from the hakawati, the traditional Arab storyteller, the performance unfolds as the artist invites the audience on a guided journey through memory, war, exile, and ancestral resilience. At the heart of this work is the figure of Amina, Bahsoun’s grandmother, Teta Omm Hassan, whose cooking, kindness, and courage evoke a legacy of care and concern for others that stands in stark contrast to the violence we endure. In her kitchen, in the aromas of her dishes, and in her voice, the artist finds comfort and security. C ! S – T E M E R R O R is a tribute to this grandmother, and to all those whose gentleness becomes a form of survival in the face of brutality.
