Caravanserá is a participatory performance combining dance, music and visual elements, inspired by the work of Brazilian artist Maria José Ciríaco.
Drawing on the idea of “caravanserais”, historical places of rest and encounter, the project creates a temporary space of gathering, exchange and celebration. The performance unfolds as a collective event without a defined stage or audience, where participants and performers share the same space.
The work brings together dancers, musicians and a diverse intergenerational group, including a community of older participants, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment. Through movement, sound and interactive objects, the audience is invited to actively engage, transforming the experience into a shared and evolving moment.
At the Art Explora Festival, Caravanserá becomes a meeting point for audiences and performers, where participation, play and collective expression are at the centre of the experience.
Gustavo Ciríaco
Gustavo Ciríaco is a choreographer and visual artist whose work explores the relationship between body, space and participation. His practice often involves collaborative and site-specific projects, engaging diverse communities and combining performance, visual arts and social interaction.
