Performance and Workshop by Des Gens Qui Dansent: *Plastic Affair* by Charlène Le Prêtre
"Plastic Affair" is a performance that explores our relationship with plastic and its impact on living organisms. Inspired by images of marine animals trapped in plastic waste, the project grew out of my observations while diving, particularly in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, where plastic is proliferating even in protected areas. The performance invites us to reflect on our habits and the way we interact with the environment. It is a solo performance performed as a duet with a lightweight plastic tarp—a material as hypnotic as it is dangerous. Hands-on workshops will be offered in conjunction with the performance.

Charlène Le Prêtre will lead practical workshops related to the performance. We’ll begin with a short group warm-up focused on the collective formations of schools of fish and the undulating movements found in the marine environment: the movement of waves, seaweed, and marine animals (fish, jellyfish, etc.).
In the final part of the workshop, we will explore the relationship between the body in motion and the plastic material developed in *Plastic Affair*.
The workshops will be presented through a narrative focusing on marine life and the impact our use of plastic can have on this environment.
Charlène Le Prêtre
A choreographer and performer with the company Des Gens Qui Dansent, she has, since 2023, developed a strong interest in site-specific work and the connections between the body, space, and territory. She also collaborates with Le Phare – Centre Chorégraphique National du Havre Normandie—as a cultural educator and choreographer working with diverse audiences.
Since 2023, she has been developing her work as a choreographer through the Dans(e) Ta Ville project, which explores the connection between movement and architecture, and through her first performance piece: *Plastic Affair*.
In September 2025, she launched the project *Les Gens Qui Dansent* with an initial week-long residency in May 2026 at Le Rebours in Haussez, through which she expressed her desire to pay tribute to the dance of these festive moments as a profoundly human act. This project aims to bring together and connect people from all walks of life through a sensitive and participatory approach.
