Cherifa Kersit + Justin Adams (Les concerts d'Alain Weber)

Cherifa Kersit is a native of tazrouth mmu ukbu, "the pierced rock", a few kilometers from Khénifra. As a child, she practiced her voice in the open air, either behind her herd, doing household chores or at gatherings of young girls. Little by little, she began to perform at weddings and traditional village festivals, sublimating the tradition of the chikhates. Her breakthrough came when she met one of the stars of Middle Atlas song, Mohammed Rouicha, in the early 80s. Her typical Middle Atlas voice, imbued with a strength matched only by that of Tifrsit, another singer from Tamawayt Rya âbbouout or Hadda Ouâkki, made her famous today. Cherifa first performed in France in September 1999 at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, as part of the "Temps du Maroc en France" autumn festival in Paris. This was the first time she met Justin Adams, the passionate guitar hero of Moroccan music, producer of Tinariwen, Rachid Taha or Robert Plant's guitarist, a world music traveler from Niger to India, who knew how to make the transition between rock and music from the Maghreb or Saharan Africa. Cherifa's transcendent voice and the Amazigh lothar will blend with the distortions of a guitar with blues accents from another Africa.
