Cypriot-English designer Alexandra Hadjikyriacou combines Cypriot Venetian lace, urban and rural embroidery, silk making and linen weaving in her fashion creations, using domestic knitting machines combined with painting and installation. The combination of Northern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean has influenced her vision of culture, society and heritage, which she expresses through the process of making her work. Here, the Eastern Mediterranean landscape appears as a vital source of inspiration for her work, and for the Art Explora Festival she will present her new collection inspired by Cypriot myths through traditional textiles. The day after her performance in the Agora, a more intimate presentation of a tapestry and a few models will be organized at the gallery and place of residence La Traverse and around an aperitif dinner organized with the wine bar Ivresse.

Alexandra Hadjikyriacou

Alexandra Hadjikyriacou was born in Limassol, Cyprus, in 1990, into a creative British Cypriot family of designers and architects. In 2008, she moved to London to study textile design at Central Saint Martins, which led to a master's degree in fashion, specializing in knitwear. She then worked for Tom Ford and Preen and launched her capsule label HAD, followed in 2015 by Kepler London, as part of a duo partnership. She is now focusing on her own collection, to be launched in 2023.
