The Art Explora Foundation and artist Jakob Kudsk Stensen invite you to discover Psychosphere, an immersive underwater world that invites the public to discover the origins of life in the deep sea. the origins of life in the depths of the sea. The work of Danish artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen offers an immersive journey into the depths of the sea, combining original sound recordings with digitized images of volcanic vents, fossils and fish species. The fruit of five years' research conducted alongside scientists and expedition ships, Psychosphere offers new perspectives on our relationship with ecological systems.

Billions of years ago, life appeared in volcanic vents beneath the surface of the oceans. Even today, this common origin resonates as a profound sense of interconnection between all species living on Earth. Psychosphere is a virtual world in which to explore the cadence of life. Based on original recordings made in the Azores and around Stromboli, volcanic seafloor landscapes come to life in a virtual interpretation accompanied by a soundscape. Fossils of long-extinct sea lilies and ammonites appear alongside living fish species, as well as an unknown life form - perhaps an evolution, a future being.
The ocean's many life forms mingle with technology and human presence, while recordings of underwater vents and oceanic species merge with man-made musical compositions and accordion sounds.
Jakob Kudsk Steensen (b. 1987, Denmark) is a visual artist working with narrative through 3D animation, video games, virtual reality and immersive installations. His works explore the relationship between natural phenomena, humans and technology, combining physical, virtual and imaginary landscapes in interactive formats.
With an exploratory approach, Steensen creates sensory works that challenge our conception of nature and underline the fragility and complexity of the world as the foundation of life. His projects are often based on field studies of hidden natural environments. Steensen collaborates with scientific researchers and participates in interdisciplinary projects such as TBA21 and REV Ocean.
Jakob Kudsk Steensen's work has been exhibited at the Fondation Beyeler in Switzerland, the Mori Art Museum in Japan, the Hamburger Kunsthalle in Germany and the Serpentine Galleries in London. He was a finalist for the Future Generation Art Prize at the 2019 Venice Biennale, and his work has been shown at Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW and CPH:DOX.
