Hervé x MazelFreten Concert

MazelFreten

He is an electro dancer and the world runner-up in the discipline: Brandon Masele. She is a hip-hop dancer: Laura Defretin. They are known in the battle scene under the stage names Miel and Nala. They were each making waves on their own, working with artists ranging from Christine and the Queens to Stromae and Angèle, until they met by chance in a dance studio during a short performance. Their meeting served as a catalyst, inspiring them to blend their respective backgrounds in electro and hip-hop. An extremely sensitive duo, they embody a deeply connected, symbiotic relationship, driven by the desire to rediscover themselves through dance. Together, they create a distinctive language—a movement vocabulary unique to their choreographic universe—that brings electro dance and hip-hop to a wider audience.  

Brandon Masele

A Franco-Congolese dancer, choreographer, and artistic director, Brandon Masele—known as Miel—specializes in electro dance and serves as an ambassador for this culture around the world. He was crowned world champion alongside Alliance Crew in 2012 and ranked #1 in the world as a soloist in 2019. From dance battles to prestigious stages, Brandon has collaborated on numerous projects with Marion Motin, (La) Horde, Ryan Hellington, Ayo, Céline Dion, Stromae, Ninho, Gérard & Kelly, and others. In 2014, he became an ADAMI Dance Talent for the Rêvolution company ’s Bliss project, joined the musical *Résiste* as a dancer, and honed his acting skills in Ladislas Chollat ’s film *Let’s Dance *. In 2017, he co-founded the MazelFreten dance company with Laura Defretin. In 2018–2019, he danced on Christine and the Queens’ world tour and choreographed his own solo for the song “Doesn’t Matter.” Brandon Masele has also been sought after for advertising campaigns as a dancer-model for brands such as Louboutin, L’Oréal, Saint Laurent, Kenzo, JPG, Uniqlo, Fendi, Pull&Bear, Diesel, and Hermès. This has allowed him to develop the aesthetic that defines his art. Today, he is sought after to share his movement style with the next generation, such as through the Toulouse Conservatory’s “Purple Love” project, or with Sarah Trouche for a production featuring 70 students at the Palais de la Porte Dorée. At the same time, he is training the next generation of electro dancers through his program, La Planké.

Laura Defretin

Laura Defretin is a dancer, choreographer, artistic director, and actress. As a multidisciplinary dancer, she is internationally recognized in the hip-hop world thanks to her numerous victories. She is frequently invited to judge and teach around the world. In 2008, she developed a passion for choreography by creating the show *Sakalapeuch* with her group Undercover. They went on to become French champions twice. Influenced by her career path and her various artistic encounters, she brings her choreographic style to life through collaborations with musicians such as Black M, Léonie Pernet, and Elia. She has also worked with Angèle and Marion Motin. It was while joining the cast of the musical *Résiste* that she met Brandon Masele, with whom she founded the MazelFreten dance company. She is also interested in movement direction, with a focus on the film industry, and regularly collaborates with Gaumont Productions (*Yo Mama* in 2023 and *Ma mère, dieu et Sylvie Vartan* in 2024).
