The DJ set is not intended to be merely musical entertainment, but rather a sonic extension of the event—a performative piece in its own right that engages with the works and artists on display and the space that hosts them.

The central idea is that of a hypnotic journey between memory and the future: Ibaaku weaves together traditional Senegalese sounds (Sabar percussion, vocals, field recordings, and instruments from the Diola and Serer traditions) with electronic textures and contemporary rhythmic structures (house, techno, Afro-electro, amapiano). The result is a sonic continuum that evokes both the ancestral and the speculative, like a form of collective trance that explores time, identity, and territory.
Ibaaku
Ibaaku describes himself as a creator of soundscapes. He explores the possibilities of sound through a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach that touches on fields such as fashion and the performing arts. After making his debut in the early 2000s on the Senegalese hip-hop scene as a rapper, producer, and singer, he has led several musical projects and joined various collectives in Dakar’s alternative scene (Lz3, Iscience, Les Petites Pierres).
Since 2016, he has established himself as a rising star in the electronic and experimental music scene on the African continent; since 2020, he has also been a founding member of “Kenu: Lab’Oratoire des Imaginaires,” an artistic space that explores the imaginations, social practices, and traditional knowledge of Ouakam society. More recently, he co-founded, with Alibeta, Senegal’s first label dedicated to contemporary and electronic music: Miziku Tey Records.
