On a vast 177,000 m² plot of land in the heart of Malaga, the desires of the city's various stakeholders clash. On one side, the municipality and real estate developers want to build four skyscrapers of around forty stories each. On the other, a neighborhood platform is fighting for a large urban forest. Who has the right to decide on public space? What are the limits of representative democracy?

Speakers: Kike España (architect), Elo Vega (artist) and curator Álex Martín Rod.

Daniel Natoli

An architect from the University of Malaga, he has been developing audiovisual projects since 2016 that explore architecture, urban space, and territory. His films have been presented at major festivals such as the Malaga Film Festival, the Seville European Film Festival, and CINEMED in Montpellier. In 2021, four of his works were finalists at the 15th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial. Founder of the production company Peripheria Films, Natoli combines his artistic approach with visual research on the built environment, seeking new narratives about urban spaces.

Elo Vega

Visual artist and teacher Elo Vega addresses social and political issues from a feminist perspective. Through her work, which includes audiovisual productions, installations, and publications, Vega critiques patriarchal and power structures. Her projects have been exhibited in public and digital spaces, combining art with activism. For Vega, art is a tool for critical investigation, which she uses to generate reflection on culture and society.

Kike España

A postdoctoral researcher specializing in urban studies, he is a member of Suburbia and editor-in-chief of Subtextos. His work focuses on social movements fighting for the right to the city and against the commodification of space. He is active in networks that promote just and equitable access to urban spaces, linking his academic research to his social activism.
