La Sequía: Juan Gallego Benot, Carmen Yruela, Laura Guastini, Carmen García, and Pablo Caldera
"La sequía: un oasis" presents the research of three flamenco artists - cantaora Carmen Yruela, guitarist Carmen García and bailaora Laura Guastini - through dance, changes in perception around drought and water control in a context of ecocide particularly notable in southern Spain. The project is directed by poet and critic Juan Benot, with the collaboration of visual artist and researcher Pablo Caldera. In the Spanish imagination, the relationship with drinking water is linked to Franco's "economic miracle". ©Carmen García Campos

Although reservoir construction began in the late 19th century, it was in the 1960s and 1970s that it reached its greatest splendor, driven by industrial and agricultural development. This research is presented with recognizable codes: folklore as an ideological veil concealing the indiscriminate extraction of resources.
Juan Gallego Benot
Poet and researcher Juan Gallego Benot is the author of the poetry collections Oración en el huerto and Las cañadas oscuras. He is currently conducting research on rhetoric and modernity at the Universities of Madrid and Groningen. He collaborates with flamenco singer Carmen Yruela on stage projects combining poetry and flamenco. He is also a contemporary art critic for Babelia and has been invited to poetry and stage creation festivals.
Carmen García Campos
Carmen García Campos is a Seville-born flamenco guitarist with an outstanding international career. Trained since the age of 7, she has taken part in international festivals such as the Mont de Marsan Flamenco Art Festival and the Oslo Flamenco Festival. A graduate in flamenco guitar from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Córdoba, she has taken her music to stages across Europe and Latin America, renowned for her virtuosity and skill in accompaniment.

Laura Guastini Pereyra
An Argentinean dancer and performer, Laura Guastini began her flamenco training at the age of 15 and trained with renowned teachers in Seville. She has lived in Seville since 2017, where she continues to develop her artistic career. She has worked with companies that have enabled her to tour internationally and has taught flamenco classes in several countries, establishing herself as a versatile and committed performer in the art of flamenco.
Carmen Yruela
Singer and flamenco teacher at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Jaén, Carmen Yruela combines flamenco tradition and modernity. She has performed in Seville's tablaos and peñas and taken her art to international stages, including Uzbekistan, Argentina and Estonia. His interdisciplinary work links flamenco with other art forms, such as poetry and visual creation. He is currently working on his first solo album, in collaboration with electronic musician Manul.
