LAFOIRE by Kabaret Cheikhats
The popular fair or carnival sets up in the village square, with games, a dancer, a violinist, a fortune teller... a small world coming straight from the moussems and villages will come alive for a friendly and joyful moment.
The Jouk Attamtil Al Bidaoui troupe, initiated by director Ghassan El Hakim, presents one of its many creations in a variety of forms, from classical theater to performances inspired by popular traditions such as L'Bsate and L'Halqa, and strongly influenced by the school of Tayeb Saddiki.
Lafoire's work is inspired by the performance circles and games popular in rural souks and moussems. This proposal also draws on cinematic references such as Daoud Aoulad Syad's Le Cheval de Feu and Abdelkarim Derkaoui and Driss Kettani's Naoura with Larbi Batma in their aesthetics of rurality, revealing a genealogy between poe theater and cinema of a certain era.
