Twilight, a symbol closely linked to the idea of the West, represents the direction in which the sun declines, fades, and dies. It expresses the end of a cycle and, consequently, the preparation for renewal. Great mythological exploits, which foreshadow a cosmic, social, or moral revolution, are accomplished during a journey westward: Perseus seeking to slay the Gorgon, Heracles the monster of the Garden of the Hesperides, Apollo flying to the Hyperboreans, and so on. Twilight is a spatio-temporal image: a suspended moment. Space and time are about to be overturned, both in the other world and the other night. But this death of the one heralds the other: a new space and a new time will succeed the old. The westward journey is the journey toward the future, but through shadowy transformations. Beyond the night, we hope for new dawns. Twilight, too, holds a special place in its own image, symbolizing the nostalgic beauty of decline and the past. It is the image and the hour of melancholy and nostalgia. The Twilight Bar: a project, an atmosphere, a meeting place, a project about exchange, friendship, and hospitality.

For "Le bar du crépuscule", Liliane Giraudon proposes "Artaud le MôMo", a triptych featuring a reading of a portrait of Antonin Artaud ("Les Pénétrables" ed. P.O.L), a screening of a film by Marc Antoine Serra, produced by Lionel Soukaz, "Si Marseille est un étron", and distribution of a tract-poem (published by La baie des singes).  

Liliane Giraudon

Born in 1946, Liliane Giraudon lives in Marseille. Her writing, situated between prose (prose doesn't exist) and poem (a poem is never alone), seems to cross genres. Between what she calls "littérature de combat" and "littérature de poubelle", her books, mostly published by Editions P.O.L., present an uneven spectrum. In addition to her work as a reviewer (Banana Split, Action Poétique, If...), she is also a public reader and what she calls her "écriredessiner": leaflets, artist's books, exhibitions, translation workshops, soap operas, video (with Patrick Laffont), theater (with Geoffrey Coppini, Hubert Colas, Yves-Noël Genot and Robert Cantarella), radio (Atelier Création Radiophonique and Fictions France Culture), minuscule actions... In 2013 she co-edited with Bazar édition a monthly poetry magazine La gazette des jockeys camouflés, 13 issues. Une existence tordue could be the title of her writing laboratory, where voices circulate. Most of her work is published by P.O.L.

Project: Adieu Dolorès

Lucile Littot and Markos Mazarakis-Ainian's experimental and sentimental baroque-pop duo Adieu Dolorès pays tribute to the mythical figures of cinema and literature, to flayed divas and disenchanted generations: The texts, written by Lucile Littot in open skies between Los Angeles, Mexico and Athens, are conceived as a collection of fantastical poetry, sublimated by Markos Mazarakis-Ainian's expressionist pop compositions. These pieces of music form the narrative skeleton of the project, which unfolds in different media such as performance, sculptural installation and video, in a maximalist style singular to Lucile Littot's artistic practice. Adieu Dolorès was notably invited to take up a residency at Villa Medici in December 2023. During their stay, they shot́ a video work entitled I am my own nightmare. Their first joint video work, entitled Conte du Cygne et Sept Autres Histoires Extraordinaires, was presented in the summer of 2022 in the gardens of the Château du Marais in Val Saint Germain.  

Lucile Littot

Lucile Littot is a French multidisciplinary artist born in Paris. She has exhibited at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Museo de Arte de Zapopan in Mexico, and La Fondation d'entreprise Ricard in Paris.  

Markos Mazarakis-Ainian

Markos Mazarakis-Ainian is a Greek musician and composer born in Athens. He is a member of the Greek psychedelic-rock band Acid Baby Jesus, formed in 2009. In parallel, he is developing a solo project under the pseudonym "Theremin Jennings".
