Twilight, a symbol closely linked to the idea of the West, represents the direction in which the sun declines, fades, and dies. It expresses the end of a cycle and, consequently, the preparation for renewal. Great mythological exploits, which foreshadow a cosmic, social, or moral revolution, are accomplished during a journey westward: Perseus seeking to slay the Gorgon, Heracles the monster of the Garden of the Hesperides, Apollo flying to the Hyperboreans, and so on. Twilight is a spatio-temporal image: a suspended moment. Space and time are about to be overturned, both in the other world and the other night. But this death of the one heralds the other: a new space and a new time will succeed the old. The westward journey is the journey toward the future, but through shadowy transformations. Beyond the night, we hope for new dawns. Twilight, too, holds a special place in its own image, symbolizing the nostalgic beauty of decline and the past. It is the image and the hour of melancholy and nostalgia. The Twilight Bar: a project, an atmosphere, a meeting place, a project about exchange, friendship, and hospitality.

Maquette is a forthcoming novel from Éditions POL, taking the form of a cosmogony of the post-apocalyptic world. Its writing is accompanied by a series of readings, each composed of as many episodes as there are chapters in the manuscript. Subverting conventional conventions and reinterpreting the serial format, these events aim to test the text from different perspectives while it is still malleable, to connect a range of formats and contributions, and to utilize a variety of channels to establish the atmosphere of this fictional work before its publication. Publications created in collaboration with Martin Desinde allow us to revisit each stage of the cycle, whether it be an operetta off the coast of Marseille, a radio play between London and New York, or a simulation at the Louvre Museum. To mark the launch of these archived notebooks, several collaborators will gather to discuss and share their experiences of the project.

Hugo Mir-Valette

Marseille shadow works

Marseille Shadow Works is a collection of texts written and performed by Hugo Mir, composer and designer. They invite the audience to share intimate, cinematic, situational moments with Marseille. Hugo Mir writes in the moment, depicting landscapes that navigate between introspection and locality, blending his music with his deep love for street culture.

Hugo Mir-Valette's musical and artistic practice is grounded in social interaction and open data. After starting out as a designer, he was diagnosed in his twenties with a degenerative disease and sleep disorders. Lacking access to medical care, he discovered that music and natural vibrations could channel and critically improve his health. He now uses his abilities and knowledge to sing alongside voices from the Global South and other Mediterranean cultures, acting as a reflective conductor and developing materials to create unique vernacular representations of Mediterranean ecosystems. His work with Josèfa Ntjam and the Aquatic Invasion team explores the futures of music as constantly evolving, genreless, nameless sonic waves—liquid data of the post-Internet era, a decolonial culture beyond categorization.
