Performance - Bouffées, Leïla Ka
Five women stand motionless, faces streaked with tears. What grief do they carry — and does it truly belong to them? With Bouffées, Leïla Ka imagines how to heal the "incurable": not to erase it, but to transform it into collective strength and renewal. Created in 2022 for the Danse Élargie competition at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris — where it won 1st prize — this striking 15-minute piece has since toured internationally, entered the repertoire of the Wiesbaden Ballet in Germany, and amassed over 15 million views on social media.

Standing still, facing the public, five women wipe their cheeks soaked in tears. What sorrow do they bear? Does it belong to them? With Bouffées, Leïla Ka imagines how to heal the "incurable”: to welcome grief in order to transform it into a medium of power and revival?
Created in 2022 for the Danse Élargie competition, Bouffées is a compact 15-minute piece with a powerful presence. It made a striking debut by winning first prize at the competition. Since then, it has been performed extensively across France and has gained recognition on international stages. In 2025, it entered the repertoire of the Wiesbaden Ballet in Germany, carried by a new generation of performers.

Leïla Ka
Leïla Ka creates choreographies for Beyoncé, the Césars Ceremony, Zaho de Sagazan, and the National Ballet of Chile. Drawing from her urban and contemporary influences, she has established her distinctive dance style in just a few years. Introduced to urban dance at the age of 16 — self-taught — she auditioned for Maguy Marin and became a performer in her iconic piece May B, before moving into choreography. Her first three solo and duo work achieved international success, touring in over 20 countries. Leïla Ka won the Danse Élargie competition at the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris and created her first group piece, Maldonne, which became an international phenomenon within months. The piece has been on continuous tour for three years, from a sold-out Olympia to Colombia, from the United States to Serbia. Leïla Ka is an associate artist at La Garance (Cavaillon), DSN (Dieppe), MC2 (Grenoble), the Scène Nationale de Malakoff, and Rive Gauche (Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray). The company has been supported by the Fondation BNP Paribas since 2024 and by the Caisse des Dépôts since 2025.
