Performance - LH, Not the Pen
Founded in 2017, the association promotes contemporary poetry rooted in everyday life and brings together some twenty poets and slam artists. For this event, it presents a selection of texts performed as slam poetry, offering a poetic take on the city of Le Havre — its docks, its light, its people. An invitation to rediscover the 'cité océane' through the words and voices of those who live it every day.

The practice of spoken-word poetry, or slam, follows a few basic principles: three minutes maximum to perform a text of your own writing in front of an audience, with no props whatsoever (music, accessories, or costumes).
Today, with around fifty members, the association, which is part of the Ligue Slam de France, will take part this year in the French Cup final, held every year in Tours in June. Some members also compete in tournaments across the French-speaking world (Quebec, Switzerland, Belgium...). In Le Havre, the association hosts open-mic nights on the third Friday of every month at Hangar Zéro. It also works with the ESAT Porte Océane and La Lézarde centers, where writing workshops are held for people with disabilities, leading up to a year-end show.
Founded in 2024 by six slam enthusiasts, the association LH pas la Plume aims to make this oratory art form accessible to as many people as possible.
