All audiences

Liman is the exceptional meeting of 3 great musicians from the current Turkish scene: Cem Yildiz, Ramazan Sesler and Ismail Pesluk. Together, they propose a veritable ‘electro-traditional’ exploration based on the rich heritage of Turkish folk music, from Istanbul to the shores of the Black Sea, via the valleys of Anatolia and the Aegean coast.

Endowed with hallucinating virtuosity, they bring to life the atmosphere of the taverns of the Bosphorus, Anatolian melodies, gypsy and Balkan rhythms or the zeybek dances of the Aegean... An initiatory, festive and hypnotic journey into a sublime geography at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and the Mediterranean.

Cem Yildiz

Cem Yildiz (Saz, electro, vocals) is a pioneer of the "world music and electro scene" in Istanbul. The artist has developed an unusual musical universe fusing popular and electronic music.

With his electrified saz, voice and machines, this electro-shaman pushes the boundaries of traditional Anatolian music and immerses you in the atmosphere of Istanbul's urban music scene.

Ramazan Sesler

Ramazan Sesler

Ramazan Sesler (clarinet). Son of the legendary Selim Sesler, nicknamed the ‘Coltrane of the clarinet’, Ramazan Sesler perpetuates a unique style and a lineage of three generations that have left their mark on Turkey and the Balkans. The refined breath of his clarinet takes us from the makams of classical Turkish music to the rhythms of the Balkans and plunges us into the festive atmosphere of the gypsy taverns of the Bosphorus.

Ismail Pesluk

Ismail Pesluk (Percussion). The finesse and dexterity of this darbouka master make him one of Turkey's most talented percussionists. You'll come across him at weddings and taverns along the Bosphorus, as well as playing in symphony orchestras and jazz festivals. Through all these experiences, Ismail Pesluk has broadened the range of his instruments: cajon, bongo, kanjira, tumba, bendir and tambourine. A ‘world musician’, as he calls himself, his repertoire, a blend of jazz and tradition, stretches from Spain to India, not forgetting Turkey.
