Workshop "At the Mouth of the Guadalhorce River" by Margarida Mendes

For All Ages

Walking along the mouth of the Guadalhorce, traversing the currents of its history and past, we reconnect with the beings that inhabit and nourish it – the guardians of the marshes. Birds, flora, reptiles, and other creatures that pass through to nest and find shelter in this aquatic ecosystem that opens onto the sea.

Workshop "At the Mouth of the Guadalhorce River" by Margarida Mendes

Address

Cam. de la Térmica, 113, Carretera de Cádiz, Málaga, Spain

Highlighting the important role of wetlands as spaces for filtering and renewing ecosystems, this walk awakens states of attention to the elements that reside in the marsh, aiming to understand their contribution to the important balance of this coastal ecology, which influences climatic equilibrium.

We'll connect to the marsh to reflect on the broader context of the metabolic and logistical relationships that develop there, and as we walk, we'll map the different curatorial relationships of these spaces and reflect on the relationship between modes of existence through time.

This walk is also an opportunity to reflect on the relationships between communities, materials and distribution flows that have been established across the marsh, as knowledge about wetlands in the Mediterranean watershed will be shared, in a confluence of perspectives between science, activism and environmental justice.
