Ocean Weekend

For All Ages

The "Ocean Weekends" are integrated into the Festival's program, inviting researchers, scientists, and artists to participate in roundtable discussions on the theme of the ocean and the climate emergency, with a local approach that is renewed at each stage. In Marseille, the Ocean Weekend takes place on the occasion of World Ocean Day.

14:00 - 15: 00 : Carte blanche at UNESCO

Round table on the theme: "From local to distant: the impact of climate change on our natural and cultural heritage", moderated by Alison Faynot, UNESCO. Speakers: Kalliopi Baika, AMU - CCJ, Aimée Bouchet, Adret Studio and Thierry Perez, CNRS Research Director, Institut Méditerranéen de Biodiversité et d'Écologie Marine et Continentale (IMBE).

15:00 - 16:00: Carte blanche at the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation

Round table discussion on "Journey to the center of the Pelagos Sanctuary", moderated by Susan Gallon, MedPAN Scientific Manager. Speakers: Hélène Labach, Director of Miraceti, Alexis Rosenfeld, photographer and explorer, and Sylvain Petit, Director of SMILO.

Round-table discussion on the theme of "The Mediterranean, wonder and action", moderated by François-Alexandre Bertrand (President, Association Blue Odyssey Initiative, CEO Platypus Craft). Speakers : Leslie Bissey, Founder of the We-Ocean Association, oceanologist, diver and eco-adventurer, Eric Dupont, Co-founder of the Echos d'Océans Association and CEO of EKKOPOL and Muriel Barron, Head of Ocean Protection at the Fondation de la Mer.

15:00 - 16:00 Carte blanche at the Camargo Foundation

A conversation on the theme 'MEDITERRANEAN: SCIENCE AND FICTIONS: Bacteria, chimeras and hydropolitical forces' between Lara Tabet (medical biologist, artist researcher) and Océane Ragoucy (architect, curator, critic) with the participation of Julie Chenot (director of the Camargo Foundation)

17:30 - 18:00 "Voices": 30-minute speech by an inspiring personality

Speaker: Alexis Rosenfeld, photographer and explorer.

18:30 - 20:00: Open-air cinema 'Mission Méditerranée, Le musée des abysses' Thomas Marlier and Mathieu Pradinaud (UNESCO programming)

Thomas Marlier and Mathieu Pradinaud , 'Mission Méditerranée, le musée des abysses' , 2023, 69'. Introduction by Alison Faynot (UNESCO) and Franca Cibecchini (DRASSM), who both took part in the international underwater archaeological mission featured in the documentary.
