Mimoza Ahmeti - The Approach
For this intimate presentation, poet and artist Mimoza combines poetry, music, and translation into a performative moment that blurs the boundaries of language, sound, and temporality.
For this intimate presentation, poet and artist Mimoza combines poetry, music, and translation into a performative moment that blurs the boundaries of language, sound, and temporality. The title refers to a recent poem that touches upon how form and content are closely interlinked. The presentation includes the reading of her recent poetry, a selection of songs she conceived in the 1990s, as well as poems by American Giorno, whose text Ahmeti translated during their friendship. Accompanied by a guitarist, she invites listeners into a reflective space where words and melodies open different temporalities of the past and the future. Qasja blurs the personal and collective, transforming personal recollection into a shared experience.
Mimoza Ahmeti (b. 1963) is an Albanian poet, musician, and visual artist known for her boundary-pushing work that blends poetry, music, and visual art. Winner of the first Festival of Poetry in Sanremo in 1988, Ahmeti’s work has earned critical acclaim for its exploration of identity, emotion, and cultural history. Her poetry collections, including Delirium and The Pollination of Flowers, have been translated into multiple languages and continue to resonate internationally. In addition to her literary achievements, Ahmeti has released two albums of her music and held several exhibitions of her paintings. She also ran the Transculture program on RTSH-TV from 2019 to 2022. With a postdoctoral background in psychotherapy and a PhD from SFU Vienna, Ahmeti’s multidisciplinary approach creates immersive, introspective experiences that invite reflection on the complexities of human existence.
