NDOX AK NDOX is a sound performance based on the journeys of people from West and North Africa across the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea, linking paths that traverse hope and tragedy.
From the death sentence of the "doors of no return" to the search for the supposed European dream, the waters have become, over the years, both paths and cemeteries. PASAPORTEMAN treats these waters as a body in a coma. Through sound, he seeks to mourn and reanimate this body so that it can tell its stories.
Every note, every instrument, every vibration is intended to reconnect and heal. With his voice and an amplified and distorted gourd, PASAPORTEMAN narrates and guides the performance. He will be accompanied by Nusmaïl with an electronic kora, in search of melody and nostalgia; 3xOJ with synthetic and ancestral sounds originating from one of the links between the African and European continents; and opo with winds and DIY electronic instruments that bring a duality between the sensitive and the destructive. Together they try to awaken the aquatic bodies of the sea and within each one, exploring how water is a path and a barrier, life and death.

Baba Sy (Senegal/Spain) is a vocalist, dj, producer and performer who operates under the name of Pasaporteman. He created this alter ego to present an artistic response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean Sea, where thousands of lives are lost each year in attempts to cross to Europe. Using the raw, evocative power of voice and sound, Pasaporteman crafts a sonic landscape that gives voice to the invisible victims of this tragedy. His work invites reflection on the devastating costs of migration, the structures of inequality that drive people to flee their homes, and the stark contrast between the silence of the sea and the cacophony of political debate surrounding migration.
