*It Rains, It Moans, It Rages* is Charles Brecard’s latest solo performance, the result of a long-term exploration of the growing anger that has taken hold of the artist—an anger fueled by our system’s inability to address the civilizational challenges facing our species and by our collective failure to act.

Through a series of transformations and symbolic images, the performer shifts from melting creatures to a delicate monk, from grotesque faces to valiant conquerors. Dancing with finesse amid glitches and chaotic movements, while succumbing to deep pain and ugliness, the piece depicts the struggle against overwhelming forces within a fragile existence. It offers a poignant exploration of the anxiety that lies within each of us and, perhaps, a little comfort. The piece received the first- Award e for Best Choreography as well as two residency Award s in Italy—DAF and Equilibrio Dynamico—at the Internationales Solo Tanz Theater Stuttgart in 2023.
