Growing up in a war zone means living and breathing politics. In *Losing It*, Palestinian choreographer and performer Samaa Wakim examines how these experiences shape her identity. This solo performance explores how the trauma of previous generations manifests in her body through movement and sound. Through a journey that takes her back to the moment she first began to fear for her freedom, the piece delves into her memories of a childhood under occupation, the different realities she navigates, and the imaginary worlds she creates to survive. As fear takes hold of her, her world begins to unravel: the ground becomes unstable and sounds distort, creating a world where reality and imagination blur. The score, performed live by Samar Haddad King, incorporates field recordings collected throughout Palestine since 2010. Accompanied by Wakim’s voice, the sounds that once instilled fear and those that brought her comfort intertwine until the past and present obscure the future.
