"Labes" isa collaboration between choreographer Selim Ben Safia and conceptual artist Nadia Kaabi-Linke centered on two opposing concepts: stillness and resilience. In Arabic, the title means “everything is fine,” and on stage, five artists from diverse backgrounds embody the power of vulnerability. Selim Ben Safia’s choreography explores gestures of resilience through the Palestinian dabké, Tunisian rhythms, and the viola da gamba, while the dancers’ bodies counter paralysis with momentum. Nadia Kaabi-Linke’s set design transforms the stage into an installation haunted by the shadows of a vanished place, drawing on her research into the Maghreb neighborhood of Jerusalem, which was destroyed in 1967.
