Drift Lattice by Theo Triantafyllidis is an immersive simulation of an underwater ecosystem where marine life and synthetic debris intertwine. Aquatic species navigate through masses of seaweed, nets, and plastics, alongside cleanup drones that attempt to restore balance. This evolving digital environment subtly responds to real-time climate and ecological data, reflecting the fragile state of global marine ecosystems. Expanding on Triantafyllidis’s BugSim (Pheromone Spa) (2022), a microscopic terrarium ecosystem exploring environmental repair, and drawing from James Bridle’s Ways of Being and Holly Jean Buck’s After Geoengineering, Drift Lattice reflects on the collaboration between human, artificial, and natural intelligences, addressing ecological challenges in a speculative marine environment.

Theo Triantafyllidis
Born in 1988, lives and works in Athens, Greece
Theo Triantafyllidis is an artist who works with digital and physical media to explore the experience of space and the mechanics of embodiment in hybrid realities. Utilizing algorithms and game engines, virtual reality headsets and experimental performance processes, he creates interactions within immersive environments. In Triantafyllidis’s worlds awkward interactions and precarious physics mingle with uncanny, absurd and poetic situations, inviting the viewer to engage with new realities.
Through the lens of monster theory, he investigates themes of isolation, sexuality and violence in their visceral extremities. He offers computational humor and AI improvisation as a response to the tech industry’s agenda. He tries to give back to the online and gaming communities that he considers both the inspiration and context for his work by remaining an active participant and contributor.
Drift Lattice is presented as part of the Art Explora Festival (October 3-12, 2025, Piraeus), with the generous support of The Breeder Gallery and Dimand.
