In a DJ set shaped by the tension between sonic research, physical intensity and futuristic imagination, Violet builds a musical narrative that moves across different geographies and histories of contemporary dance music. Between acid house mutations, imaginative techno, off-centre rhythms and unexpected textures, her sonic journey unfolds in a fluid and intricate way, simultaneously invoking dancefloor energy, attentive listening and conceptual exploration.
Deeply connected to Lisbon’s music scene, Violet co-founded Rádio Quântica and Planeta Manas, two projects that have played a fundamental role in the critical and political renewal of dance cultures in Portugal. This collective and reflective dimension also runs through her artistic practice, where the DJ set emerges not only as a space for musical circulation and mixing, but as a practice of building community, memory and possibility.
Over the past years, she has performed at some of the most significant international contexts for electronic and experimental music, including Berghain/Panorama Bar, Berlin Atonal, Unsound, Dekmantel, Gamma and Field Maneuvers, affirming a singular artistic language that is at once demanding, sensory and expansive.
The experience is expanded through the video projection of an original drawing by JAS, developed in direct dialogue with the music. Lines, rhythms and visual forms follow the transformations of sound, creating an immersive environment where image and listening continuously contaminate and reshape one another.
In her hometown of Lisbon, Violet contributes to the local scene in multiple ways. She co-founded the online radio station Rádio Quântica and the groundbreaking Planeta Manas, and is also a resident at mina. These contributions resonate throughout Violet’s work as an artist, expressing the political history of dance music through both her voice and her musical practice in a thoughtful and reflective way. In her DJ sets, she combines alien rhythms, imaginative techno, acid house mutations and much more, in a style that is both natural and intricately constructed. She has performed across Europe at parties and clubs such as Room 4 Resistance, Berghain/Panorama Bar, Berlin Atonal, Field Maneuvers, Unsound, Gamma and Dekmantel.
Filho Único is a cultural association founded in Lisbon in 2007. It is an independent entity that does not receive annual funding or financial support from state mechanisms. It develops its active presence in Lisbon and on the international circuit through the aesthetic and critical approaches of its programming, co-productions, and the promotion of concerts, installations, and music events, as well as through the cooperative booking and representation of musicians.
Over the years, its role has been recognized in taking on an ever-unassured challenge: continuously reimagining the understanding of music—not limited by technique, data, or logic, but rather as expression and dynamic force, relational and liberating, present in lived experience, intergenerational knowledge, and enduring connections between body, land, and history.
