A sound journey through the Mediterranean

Travelling to the Mediterranean without moving?

Through a Sound Odyssey, Ircam and Ircam Amplify invite visitors to explore the sensations of the Mediterranean and discover new soundscapes, both imaginary and real. An immersive 11:30-minute journey will allow visitors to encounter, with their eyes closed, the richness and diversity of the Mediterranean.

Crossing this crossroads of languages, cultural and cultic practices, this sound journey in the Mediterranean takes in both urban and natural spaces, sound and living heritage. This sonic journey explores the way in which creation also questions the contemporary challenges of this territory on the move.

This sound voyage is conceived as a journey by ear: from the port, the listener follows the spaces and species encountered by the museum boat along the Mediterranean coast. Using a sound design approach, it was based on a workshop bringing together curators, composers, artists and associations to discuss, define and then collectively prioritize the sounds and music of the Mediterranean.

Refusing caricatures, the sound composition is structured around 10 scenes that reveal the polymorphism of these spaces and compose a collectively debated sound point of view.
