Winds know what maps have forgotten

“Winds know what maps have forgotten” is a hands-on, immersive workshop where sound, maps, and imagination meet. Participants inhabit a large floor map of the Mediterranean to create wind-inspired soundscapes, stories and speculative narratives. Drawing from personal memories, history and the Pangea- a unique, tightly-connected supercontinent that existed before the geography of today- the workshop explores movement, separation and reconnection through collective listening, making, and performance.

Bartira is an archiver. A storyteller. A time traveller. She researches, documents and records sounds from the “souths” of the world. She uses her ever-growing sonic bank as an exercise in experimental archiving by re-signifying sounds to create music and soundscapes that investigate and speculate the realities in this information age of late capitalism. This is a counterintel effort to outsmart AI’s
representation of the sonic world by creating a creole sonic seed bank of sorts, open to collaboration and sharing to all.
