Workshops and catamaran experience for children
An essential aspect of the festival involves the development of workshops centered around the audiovisual experience on board the catamaran. These workshops are designed to address three key themes: cultural diversity, environmental sustainability and gender equality. Suitable for children aged 5 to 11, the activities are inspired by an audiovisual experience highlighting artifacts from the Louvre, encouraging active engagement, conversation and participatory learning.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKSHOP
AGE RANGE: 5-7
All the artifacts you'll see have something important in common - they've all been found in places around the Mediterranean Sea. They tell stories of how people lived and traveled across the sea thousands of years ago. Some of the skills and techniques needed to make these artifacts may even have reached Maltese shores. What part of the world's seas or oceans did Malta's first inhabitants come from? How can we tell? Would you be brave enough to cross the sea in a boat made from plant fibers? Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn more about how these civilizations spread around the Mediterranean and shaped the way we live today. Find out more about the same seas and oceans they crossed, and how they are similar or different to those we see today. How have they changed and why?

CULTURAL HERITAGE WORKSHOP
AGE RANGE: 8-10
How did the Greeks, Etruscans, Romans and Egyptians influence each other across the Mediterranean over the years? This sharing of skills and abilities left behind magnificent artistic masterpieces of their gods and nobles scattered along the cities they occupied. How did the materials to which they had access and their skills evolve over the years? Can we see this reflected in Malta's cultural heritage? What symbolism can we see in the historical artifacts we've used over the years? Can you mold your own in clay to highlight Maltese cultural symbols?

GENDER EQUALITY WORKSHOP
AGE RANGE: 11+.
What do Enheduanna, Sappho and the wives of the Pharaohs have in common with today's Maltese women? Did the first female priestesses and poets across the Mediterranean have the same struggles as today's women? How would you see a modern priestess, and what would she write about and pray to the gods about? What would your own poems and prayers look like? What rights would you demand and what language would you use? How can art play a role in the ongoing struggles for gender equality today?
