Immersive Exhibition - "Présentes"

‍An immersive exhibition where visitors are enveloped in a sensory experience. The research behind this immersive experience was developed by a diverse curatorial team composed of leading figures, artists, and thinkers: Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (choreographer), Noëmi Daucé (curator in the Department of Oriental Antiquities at the Louvre), Simone Fattal (artist), Nicolas Saada (filmmaker), and Daniel Mendelsohn (writer). Each of these figures has incorporated historical and contemporary reflections on life in the Mediterranean into their own research.

Among its collections, the Louvre Museum preserves one of the most poignant testimonies : the voice of humanity's first poet, the high priestess Enheduanna . One of her poems, dedicated to the praise of the great Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar, written in the first person, gives voice to a singular perspective for the first time. While glorifying the power of her goddess, which manifests itself through both anger and fury as well as joy and jubilation, Enheduanna recounts some painful episodes from her personal experience.

Placed under the aegis of this foundational figure, the exhibition brings together faces and lives from Egypt and Mesopotamia, Athens and Rome, extending to 18th-century sculpture, paving the way for a new exploration of the Louvre Museum's collections and the feminine power they contain . Through these faces and lives, humanity is thus embodied, with its imposed violence and its embraced freedoms, carried from one shore of the Mediterranean to the other.

The experience is thus based on emotion, discovery and immersion . It presents sequences of powerful and evocative works combined with dynamic visual transition effects that play with the perception of space, offering a balance between contemplation and movement.

GRAPHICS eMOTION TO VISUAL REALISATION

From the initial drafts of the project, Graphics eMotion has been at the heart of the creative process, working closely with the Art Explora Foundation and with the curators of the Louvre Museum. As seasoned visual storytellers and creators of multisensory digital experiences, director Julien Abril and creative director Alexandre Poitras developed the concept, the unique aesthetic, and the narrative of the exhibition. Drawing on the knowledge they have accumulated over the years working on spectacular artistic projects such as the Banquet at the Cité des Sciences in Paris or the Sangue e Arena show at the Colosseum in Rome, they designed each scene with particular attention to its emotional impact and immersive power.

The team digitized a large collection of artifacts from the Louvre and modeled them in 3D with a very high level of detail using the latest technologies. A team of talented, multidisciplinary artists created immersive environments with digital animations and complex visual effects. They crafted a poignant and spectacular experience that presents ancient works of art with a decidedly modern approach.

SOUNDWALK COLLECTIVE: SOUND CREATION

Sailing for over two months along the coasts of the Middle East, Italy, North Africa, and Southern Europe, equipped with scanners, antennas, and recorders with technologically advanced hearing, Soundwalk Collective intercepted the accidental layering of noises, music, voices, private conversations, and public announcements, bouncing between boats, ships, and the shore. The result is a constantly rearranging musical map, a polyphonic installation, the reflection of a sound archive.

Soundwalk Collective is the contemporary sonic arts platform of founder and artist Stephan Crasneanscki and producer Simone Merli. Working with a rotating constellation of artists and musicians, they develop site- and context-specific sound projects through which to examine conceptual, literary or artistic themes.

Evolving along multi-disciplinary lines, Soundwalk Collective has cultivated long-term creative collaborations with musician Patti Smith, late director Jean-Luc Goddard, photographer Nan Goldin, choreographer Sasha Waltz, and actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, among others. In doing so, their practice engages in the narrative potential of sound across mediums such as art installations, dance, music and film.
