An imaginary creature to protect the Mediterranean
How can shapes and symbols found on representations of ancient goddesses help us create a new creature-protector of the Mediterranean? In this art workshop, children and adults use ancient traces as well as new elements in order to collaboratively create the image of an imaginary creature that could help protect the Mediterranean against its present-day challenges.
Since antiquity, many female deities were protecting people’s lives in the Mediterranean. Let’s say we were to create the image of an imaginary creature who would offer protection for the problem you chose.
Images of Cypriot antiquities used during the workshops are kindly provided by the Department of Antiquities Cyprus.
