Love Will Tear Us Apart is a solo that combines the elements of a rock concert, confessional form, and abstract dance. It is also the first part of Saša Božić’s and Petra Hrašćanec’s trilogy that explores the relationship between contemporary dance and popular music (Love Will Tear Us Apart / Boys Don’t Cry / the_beatles). The “love” from the title is transferred into a love for dance itself.

Love Will Tear Us Apart is a solo that combines the elements of a rock concert, confessional form, and abstract dance. It is also the first part of Saša Božić’s and Petra Hrašćanec’s trilogy that explores the relationship between contemporary dance and popular music (Love Will Tear Us Apart / Boys Don’t Cry / the_beatles). The “love” from the title is transferred into a love for dance itself.
The performer presents dance routines to selected post-punk and rock love songs, while in the pauses we hear seemingly trivial details about the production, details that gradually unravel a subtle web of power relations that shape this act. The dancer, Petra Hrašćanec, was awarded the Croatian Theatre Award in 2012 for Best Dance Performance for her role in the performance.
The solo has been performed in many Croatian and international festivals, such as Week of Contemporary Dance (Zagreb, 2011 and 2012), Festival of Dance and Non-Verbal Theatre (Savičenta, 2011), Barutana 011 and 012 Program (Osijek, 2011 and 2012), Monoplay Festival (Zadar, 2011), Art Workshop Lazareti (Dubrovnik, 2011, 2012, 2013), ITD Theatre repertoire (Zagreb, 2011/2012 season), Croatian Dance Scene Showcase (Zagreb, 2011), City to City Cabaret (Zagreb, 2012), IETM Zagreb (2012), WAM Festival (Faenza, Italy, 2012), Théâtre de Colombier – Croatie, la voici program, curated by Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis (Paris, 2012), Uovo Festival (Milan, Italy, 2013).

Petra Hrašćanec
Petra Hrašćanec is a dancer, choreographer, and educator. Her primary field of interest and training is contemporary dance, and her work is characterized by an exploration of the body as a reality of performance across different media. As a performer, in addition to making her own pieces, she is also an external member of Wee, a group founded in Norway by choreographer Francesco Scavetta. Her choreographic work is developed through the art organization 21:21 (where she is one of the art directors) and through the partner organization de facto, in collaboration with Croatian institutions such as Teatar &TD, Zagreb Youth Theatre, Pogon Jedinstvo, and the Zagreb Dance Centre. Since 2013, she has been leading and mentoring the course Contemporary Dance Technique at the Dance Department of the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art. From 2009 to 2020, she was the art director of the solo dance festival Monoplay in Zadar. Hrašćanec’s works have been presented at renowned European dance festivals and theatre institutions such as Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis in Paris, ImPulsTanz in Vienna, UOVO Festival in Milan, La Raffinerie/Charleroi danse in Brussels, Les Subsistances in Lyon, Théâtre de la Bastille in Paris, among others.

For reasons of safety and preservation of the boat, high heels and stilettos may not be worn on the boat.
The museum boat is open to all free of charge. To find out on which quay it will be moored, or to pre-book your slot, consult the page dedicated to your town.
Appropriate facilities have been set up on the Festival site for the reception and access of people with reduced mobility. The boat is equipped with a 1m-wide ramp, accessible to people with reduced mobility, but may require the accompaniment of a third party due to its gradient of over 6%. Access to the aft deck and immersive exhibition is possible. However, the upper deck is not accessible. Please inform us in advance of any special accessibility requirements, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
