All audiences

In a DJ set characterized by dense atmospheres and subtle sonic shifts, PLO Man crafts a sonic journey where house, techno, breakbeat, and dub blend seamlessly. Drawing inspiration from the world of Acting Press, a cult label in the underground electronic scene, he develops an approach that focuses on texture, duration, and the slow transformations of the dance floor. A video projection of an original drawing by JAS enriches this sensory experience.

In a DJ set characterized by atmospheric depth and a keen eye for subtle sonic shifts, PLO Man weaves a musical narrative that explores various realms of contemporary electronic music. Between hypnotic house and techno beats, dreamy atmospheres, fragmented rhythms, and dub influences, his sonic journey unfolds in a fluid and immersive way, prioritizing texture, duration, and the creation of intense, enveloping listening environments.

Hailing from Calgary, PLO Man is one of the central figures of Acting Press, a label that has become, over the past decade, a cult staple of the international underground electronic scene. Through the release of vinyls, cassettes, and CDs, Acting Press has built a unique universe, attentive to the fringes and the most unexpected corners of contemporary dance culture. This sensibility is also reflected in PLO Man’s work as a producer and DJ, where different musical languages coexist without a rigid hierarchy, balancing physical rhythm, experimentation, and ethereal atmospheres. Alongside his studio work and numerous collaborations tied to the label’s universe, PLO Man has presented his DJ sets in clubs and festivals around the world, developing an approach that prioritizes the gradual build-up of energy and a mindful relationship between sound, space, and duration.

The experience is enhanced by a video projection of an original drawing by JAS, created in direct dialogue with the music. Lines, rhythms, and visual forms accompany the sonic transformations, creating an expanded sensory environment where image and sound reshape one another.

The DJ lineup for the Art Explora festival is curated by Filho Único.

Filho Único is a cultural association founded in Lisbon in 2007. It is an independent organization that receives no annual funding or financial support from the government. It maintains an active presence in Lisbon and on the international scene through a program featuring aesthetic and critical approaches, its co-productions, and the promotion of concerts, installations, and musical events, as well as the cooperative booking and performance of musicians.

Over the years, its role has been recognized as rising to an ever-evolving challenge: constantly rethinking our understanding of music—not limited by technique, data, or logic, but rather as an expression and a dynamic, relational, and liberating force, present in lived experience, intergenerational knowledge, and the enduring connections between the body, the land, and history.
