RockeRIn
The RockeRIn project was born out the successful collaboration of educational institutions (primary and secondary schools) from the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County on the PjesmaRIca and PjesmaRIca2 projects – where choirs from Rijeka and the surrounding area performed renditions of Rijeka’s pop-rock songs. Given the satisfaction and success from the previous projects, a need arose for new shared creative work and meaningful leisure activities for our students. ©Photos Vedran Karuza / Petar Fabijan

RockeRIn
The RockeRIn project arose from the successful collaboration between educational institutions (primary and secondary schools) in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County within the framework of the PjesmaRIca and PjesmaRIca2 projects, where choirs from Rijeka and the surrounding area performed pop-rock songs from Rijeka. Given the satisfaction and success of previous projects, it became clear that we needed to offer our students new collaborative creative activities and enriching leisure pursuits.
The project was conceived and launched by the teachers of Zamet Primary School in Rijeka and founders of the Association for Musical and Stage Creativity “Arij” – Jelena Fabijan and Ana Cvitak. The project premiered under the patronage of the Ministry of Science and Education as part of the initiative to support work with gifted students.
RockeRIn began in late 2023, when the Croatian language teacher and adviser at Trsat Primary School, Iva Močibob, wrote the script for the musical. Močibob is also a renowned musician from Rijeka, known for her work with the groups Putokazi and Eni, as well as the alternative bands Turisti and Parafi. The music in the RockeRIn musical consists of hit songs by Rijeka’s pop-rock authors in new arrangements by music producer Darko Terlević. As part of the work with students, a final song for the musical was also created, titled “Grad” (“The City”) (Jelena Fabijan – Darko Terlević – Ana Ilijić), which won 1st place in the choir category at the Croatian Children’s Festival held in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb.
The musical premiered in June 2024 at Rijeka’s Croatian Cultural Centre (HKD). Throughout 2024 and 2025, it was performed multiple times in Rijeka, Opatija, and Ravna Gora for primary and secondary school students from all over Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, as well as for the general public, with the support of the City of Rijeka, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the Tourist Board of the City of Opatija, and the “Naša djeca” Association from Ravna Gora.
