The French Institute of Greece in Athens

A UNIQUE FRANCOSPEAKING ENVIRONMENT IN GREECE

A symbol, since 1907, of Greek-French cooperation and the cultural action of France in Greece.

A space of cultural and intellectual effervescence, free thought, reciprocity, exchanges, innovation and cooperation.

Since its establishment in 1907, the French Institute of Greece, the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the Embassy of France in Greece, has been the ideal link with France, offering its students and the public a unique French-speaking environment in Greece, rich in cultural events.

With more than 100 years of active presence in the capital, it is among the most important French Institutes worldwide due to the long-standing and strong Greek-French friendship. Every year, it organizes and hosts in its modern spaces a multitude of events, such as conferences, lectures, round tables, press conferences, radio broadcasts, theatrical performances, literary presentations, concerts, film screenings...

The French Institute of Greece, a bridge of education, culture and cultural exchanges between Greece and France, will always aim to maintain and continuously strengthen Greek-French relations. The heart of Athens beats here!

The Art Explora Pop Library is a unique pop-up library created specifically for the Art Explora Festival in Piraeus, dedicated to themes of climate justice, water, and science. Libraries have always been vital spaces that hold and share stories from across the Mediterranean, offering places of belonging, reflection, and togetherness.

The library's collection has been generously donated by Library4All, We Need Books and Athens Comics Library.

The space has been created with the use of the famous Travelling Library, part of the Children’s Library Myrsini Zorba of the Network for Children’s Rights, a non-profit organisation that since 2004 has been promoting and protecting children’s rights through education, culture, advocacy and community programmes. The Network, awarded for its contribution to the promotion and protection of children’s rights as defined by the UNCRC, brings together educators, artists, specialists and community members to create safe, inclusive spaces where children and young people can learn, express themselves and thrive.

Awarded for its contribution to the promotion and protection of children's rights as defined by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), the Network brings together educators, artists, specialists and community members to create safe, inclusive spaces where children and young people can learn, express themselves and flourish.

Avec les livres et les droits de l’enfant comme principaux outils, cette bibliothèque vise à informer et sensibiliser les enfants, en cultivant la prévention, la protection, la coopération et la participation sur des sujets qui les concernent — comme la communauté et l’environnement.
