The Short Story Distributors initiative

At the hospital

One of Art Explora's first initiatives was the installation of 5 Short Story Distributors at the Armand Trousseau pediatric hospital in Paris, and a Short Story Distributor at the Timone hospital in Marseille, designed and created by publisher Short Edition.

Within the consultation departments of this children's hospital, these devices help to improve the quality of life of little patients and their parents. They can discover short fictions but also anecdotes relating to a painting or a sculpture, created by Artips.

The Vending Machines have been installed in particularly busy departments, where patient waiting times are often long.

Art Explora volunteers help children and their families discover these stories. The stories can be viewed online: artexplora.short-edition.com

In leisure centers

Art Explora relies on the network of distributors deployed by Short Edition in several leisure centers in Seine-Saint-Denis, and offers mediation workshops for children aged 5 to 10, based on reading stories about art.

The volunteer mission

We invite you to join the volunteers who are already involved in this initiative and sign up for a reading session at a hospital or leisure center.

At leisure centers in Seine-Saint-Denis, the aim is to put books and reading back at the heart of the activities on offer, with a particular focus on children's literature.

These readings will be aimed at children aged 5 to 15, and will be accompanied by activities based on the art readings. You'll be able to pass on your love of reading, and create a moment of exchange and sharing with the animators and children.

At the hospital, come and share art-historical anecdote readings at the bedside of young patients aged 5 to 10, with the help of DHCs.

You'll be offering them a moment of respite and calm, away from the anxiety of waiting.
