Meet Ghyzlène Boukaïla in this new episode of our series *In The Eyes Of*, and immerse yourself in a residency where the concepts of displacement, memory, and territory intersect and are redefined.

An artist based between France and Algeria, Ghyzlène Boukaïla creates work deeply rooted in human journeys. In Cyprus, she situates her research within a space steeped in migration histories, where the sea becomes at once a border, a passage, and a living memory. Her approach is shaped by the encounters she has on site, as well as by historical figures drawn from a collective memory that spans the ages.

His encounter with Yoyo, a modern-day pirate figure, marks a turning point in his creative process. Yoyo’s presence embodies a different relationship with the sea: a free-spirited, almost mythological way of sailing that resonates with his artistic exploration. Together, these elements fuel a broader reflection on invisible trajectories and contemporary forms of wandering.

Set between sea and mountains, his work thus charts territories of personal transcendence. These landscapes—both physical and inner—become places where one transcends oneself, where movement is no longer merely geographical, but deeply personal.
