28 days under the sea | with Laurent Ballesta

Les Baladeurs
Living underwater and interacting with mysterious fish has fascinated humans for decades. In 2019, to get closer to this dream, marine biologist and underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta has combined several diving techniques to explore the depths of the Mediterranean without time constraints. But his ambition came with a Award : he had to stay confined for 28 days with three companions in a 5 m2 chamber. This innovative expedition takes the form of a journey into space, to discover species on the threshold of the abyss.

The French coastline at risk from erosion and flooding

Surfrider Foundation Europe
Marseille
Are our coasts retreating or not? There's a lot of talk about climate change. But does it affect us directly? What impact does it have on our coasts, and why should we be concerned? In this booklet, we'd like to explain why the coast is in danger, what the threats are, and why it concerns us all. It's time to realize that we need to live with the ocean, not against it, and that we can all play our part in protecting our beaches!

UNDERTOW exhibition booklet

Art Explora
Marseille
The title of the exhibition UNDERTOW / Undertow refers to the current of water at the bottom, which moves in the opposite direction to the current observed at the surface. The exhibition thus explores the Mediterranean Sea, its surface currents and those of the depths: the stories that intertwine there, the human experiences that it binds together and rests upon. For it is both a place of travel and exile, of hope and disillusionment, of life and death. The works presented - by artists from different regions of the Mediterranean basin - reflect a diversity of points of view that challenge often well-established prejudices about the region's migratory phenomena. By giving them space, voice and form, the works reveal the power of the stories and their protagonists.

Under The Azure exhibition booklet

Art Explora
Marseille
The exhibition Under the azure takes as its starting point a Hittite myth (the Hittites were a people of Asia Minor who lived in the 2nd millennium BC) according to which, every evening, the sun would fall into the sea as it set. Under the azure brings together works by some twenty international artists, both historic and emerging, whose artistic practice has been nourished by a fascination for the Mediterranean Sea. The exhibition reflects the dreams and fears of the Mediterranean Sea, from the people who inhabit it to the dramas it witnesses.

NEON
The dialogues are a series of short podcasts that aim to send a localized signal of our geographical position to the world.
